But on Thursday night as Bloomfield ripped up carpet he made the discovery among layers of old newspapers.
"I was amazed," he said.
"I knew it was a cricket thing and then I saw Bradman on it."
The larger-than-A3-size sheet of paper has been well preserved over the years with all figures, most handwritten, still in check.
The Wrigley Scoring Sheet And Record Of 1936-1937 Tour takes into account the English matches in Australia over that summer almost eight decades ago.
Earlier tour matches have been printed, along with player names, but results from the five Tests have been left blank to fill in.
The first Test in Brisbane between December 4 and 9 was comfortably won by England by 322 runs according to the red ink marks recording the figures.
The visitors piled on 358 and 256 in their two innings while Australia made 234 and 58.
Bradman scored 38 and 0.
The score sheet also included names such as Stan McCabe, Bert Oldfield, Bill O'Reilly, Bill Brown and Walter Hammond.
The remaining Tests have not been completed on the score sheet found by Bloomfield but Australia eventually won the series 3-2 despite losing the opening two fixtures.
