Raymond Terrace-based Scott and Beresfield’s Beesley (seniors) were due to play their deciders overnight at Ettalong.
Scott faced Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Aron Sherriff in the state singles, while Beesley was to meet Warilla’s Geoff McGillvray in the seniors.
Scott easily accounted for Temora’s Bruce Lack 31-13 and Beesley beat Tuncurry’s Noel James 31-18, while on the other side of the draw Sherriff edged past Taren Point’s Craig Donaldson 31-28 and McGillvray defeated Phillip Burns of Merimbula 31-22.
This followed on from Monday’s preliminary rounds.
In the main draw Scott had been victorious 31-25 against Cowra’s Gerard Beath in the quarter-finals after defeating West Dubbo’s Joshua Andriske by the narrowest of margins (31-30) in the round of 16.
In the senior singles Beesley proved too good for Cabramatta’s Gary Corey 31-24 in the quarter-finals after triumphing 31-28 in a tight encounter against Brian Fernando of Dubbo Railway.
The state competition continues today with the fours, which includes Kurri Kurri quartet Andrew Rees, Aaron Appleby, Michael Smith and Nathan Dawson.
State president’s reserve singles also start today. Both of those divisions will finish tomorrow.
They will be followed by open triples and president’s reserve pairs on Friday and Saturday.
The tournament began on Saturday with state pairs for both open and senior sections.
South Tamworth’s Scott Thorning and Nathan Wise were successful along with David Shearer and Crawford Linton of Belrose respectively.
