His six-over spell had the hosts in early trouble at 8-35 but an unbeaten 67-run stand between Jacob Northey (55 not out) and Luke Roberts (19 not out) saved the day as they reeled in the 97 required in 21 overs.
Five-wicket hauls were also taken by Maitland Ex-Services’ Hayden Brown (5-8) in E-grade, South Maitland Railway’s Russell Muller (5-11) in C-grade and Raymond Terrace’s Michael Gough (5-59) in seconds.
Other standout performances in Maitland and District Cricket Association lower grades from Saturday included an unbeaten 94 from Thornton’s David Gabriel in fourths, an 89 for Raymond Terrace’s Michael Akerman in seconds and 85 not out for Shawn Egan of the Kurri Kookaburras in B-grade, which included a partnership of 123 with Adam Foster (30 not out).
