With fiery red hair and the complexion to match his costume, a kilt, was a no-brainer.
“It’s kind of a long running joke at work,” the ironically mild-mannered bar tender said.
But he aims to have the last laugh when he climbs into the ring at Club Maitland City, where he works coincidently, for his debut match next month.
The event will feature up to eight match-ups in the recently renovated club and more than 100 tickets have sold so far.
Mr Ferguson will square off against Grant “Greatness” Linstrom in the culmination of a life-long obsession.
“I’ve always watched [wrestling] since I was a kid,” he said.
“It’s the theatrical aspect I enjoy.”
To reach this point he’s spent a lot of time in Sydney building the skills to wrestle in a display of determination.
“It’s more difficult than it looks,” he said.
“A lot of people give up after the first session.”
The age-old question of what’s beneath the kilt has been answered, at least for the evening of November 1.
“Yes, I’ll be wearing shorts under the kilt,” Mr Ferguson said.
Club Maitland City hosts the event in the new Ruby room with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 13.
