Kurri Kurri High School students Hayden Duncan, 17, and Georgia Stuart, 17, took on the modern history test that included a compulsory World War I section.
The students also completed sections on the Conflict in Europe and a personality study on German architect Albert Speer who became the minister of armaments and war production for the Third Reich during World War II.
Hayden, from Heddon Greta, said the test was as he had been expecting.
“Yeah, there were no real surprises,” he said.
“I thought some of the questions in the multiple choice were tough, like there could have been more than one right answer.”
Hayden said he wanted to study a business-commerce degree at the University of Newcastle next year, while Georgia said she wanted to go into speech pathology.
Georgia, from Kurri Kurri, said she had put plenty of work into her exams.
“The last three weeks I’ve done a fair bit, then a bit of a refresher yesterday,” she said.
“Basically it was just going over it all again, it has been less stressful than the trials.”
Hayden and Georgia will both back up for today’s mathematics exams.
