The Kurri Kurri quartet of Andrew Rees, Aaron Appleby, Michael Smith and Nathan Dawson gave up an early lead to lose by the narrowest of margins at Ettalong Bowling Club on Thursday afternoon.
Kurri Kurri were defeated 21-20 in the top-four encounter and missed a shot at last night’s final, which was played out between St John’s Park and fellow semi winners Terrigal.
Kurri Kurri had accounted for Belrose (21-19) and Ocean Shores (29-14) in the quarter-final and round of 16 on Wednesday.
Raymond Terrace’s Lennon Scott claimed the singles crown on Tuesday with a win over Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Aron Sherriff while South Tamworth won the pairs on Sunday.
The triples will be played on Friday and Saturday.
In other lawn bowls news the Women’s Bowls NSW State Championships begin with the fours at Tuncurry on Saturday and Sunday.
Scott’s wife and Australian representative Natasha will be part of the Raymond Terrace fours side along with Margaret Barnett, Deanne Price and Kelly Richards.
Scott, Barnett and Richards will then team up for Raymond Terrace in the triples on Monday and Tuesday.
The action continues for Scott and Richards with the pairs on Wednesday and Thursday.
Richards, who achieved an historic clean sweep of all four titles at the Regional Championships at Maitland City Bowls, Sports and Recreation Club in July, will then follow on with the singles to complete eight straight days on the green.
