It is immediately clear that she has a great feeling for art.
Verona works in a variety of mediums such as acrylics, watercolour, pastels and mixed media.
“The medium I choose depends on my mood at the time,” she explained.
At the recent annual exhibition of the Maitland Region Society of Artists, Verona exhibited paintings in both acrylics and watercolour.
Her watercolour painting Murray River Bend and Mountain Vista are beautiful examples of landscapes with the soft muted tones creating a misty stillness.
By contrast, her acrylic Toward the Storm produces an emotion of anticipation in the viewer while her miniature acrylic entitled A Peaceful Walk instantly conveys a feeling of gentleness.
The moods of this artist can be clearly identified with her work.
Verona favours landscapes for the beauty and moods of nature’s colours and textures and she describes her style as impressionistic/atmospheric.
Since 2005 she has been most successful in winning a number of first prizes and Highly Commendeds.
Her greatest achievement?
“When people purchase my work . . . the thanks and appreciation people give me, there is no feeling quite like it.”
