Mr Pearson and Marlie are good buddies.
They share a swag together in select spots around Maitland where Mr Pearson has been spending some time since his arrival from Newcastle.
“Marlie is a rescue dog and we have been together for about seven months,” Mr Pearson said.
“We were passing a Vinnies store in High Street and I popped in to look around.
“There I saw something I had to have: a bright red bandanna that would look great on Marlie.
“It only cost me 50 cents and Marlie loved it.
“He could hardly sit still long enough outside the shop while I fastened the bandanna around his neck.
“In fact, it makes him resemble Red Dog in the movie.
“It is a good buy, because in summer I can wet the bandanna and it will keep Marlie cool.
“And I will make sure he wears it on National Bandanna Day.”
Mr Pearson said he and Marlie came together after the dog was advertised on Facebook.
“I saw his face and I knew I had to have him,” Mr Pearson said.
National Bandanna Day is on Friday, October 31 and it is held to raise money to fight for children who have cancer.
