Sophie Proctor and Shannon Perney of Maitland Grossmann High walked out of French continuous confident with their answers and looking forward to taking their language skills into higher education.
The three-hour exam occupied the level between French beginner and extension and challenged students to decipher spoken French and write a letter of adoration in the language of love.
A performance component, speaking the language aloud, was previously conducted in August at Merewether High School.
“My parents are French and I can speak it fluently at home, but I needed to work on my writing” Shannon said. “I’m aiming for a double-degree in business and French – they want you to speak multiple language in business, and French is so widely spoken that it’s a huge advantage.”
Shannon said: “I don’t have anyone speaking French at home, but I wanted to learn a language.” Sophie said.
“For me, the writing was easier, but the listening component was more challenging. I’ve applied for a Bachelor of Education, secondary, so I can become a history teacher and maybe a Diploma of Languages.”
