A new school bell, alarm system and digital signs will go up at East Maitland Public School after its inaugural market day this Saturday.

Thirty eight stalls will be open to all members of the community to fund-raise for the school.
Everything from scrap-booking to chocolate, wood-fired pizza, snow cones, sausage sizzle, art, crafts and a chocolate wheel will be part of the day.
It has taken six weeks to organise the event, which is based on the idea of an old-fashioned school fete.
Organiser and parent Amanda Deane is excited about the market day, where she will debut her alter ego, Something Sweet.
“I love to dress up in character with my fancy plaits and false eyelashes just for fun,” she said.
“My stall is called Something Sweet and Something To Keep where I create and sell floral arrangements made from sweets.”
East Maitland Public School is 152 years old and has 600 students.
The market day will be open from 9am until 2pm.
