With temperatures reaching in excess of 40 degrees in places across Maitland yesterday, weather experts have predicted the markings of one long, hot summer.
“It’s been very hot in Maitland during the past few days and, while temperatures haven’t reached record levels, they haven’t been that far off,” WeatherWatch meteorologist Don White said.
“Temperatures like this are not that common in November, but they will become so as the world warms up.”
There will be little reprieve today with mercury expected to rise to about 37 degrees, but things are expected to cool down as the week progresses.
“But we are in for warmer than average summer. This is a sign of things to come,” Mr White said.
