Bowd will take over the first XV from Bobby Tynan, who stepped down at the end of this campaign after one year in the job.
This will be the Blacks’ fourth coach in as many seasons with Tynan (2014), Matt Thomas (2013) and Geoff Golledge (2009-2012).
