The brainchild of Maitland man Behren Schulz and producing partner Jim Lounsbury, Love Is Now chronicles a summer of love along the harvest trail.
Showing a break from traditional funding and release models of Australian films, Schulz has secured funding for the film from a series of partnerships, including principal partner Nikon Australia.
“It’s encouraging to see Eponine Films exploring less traditional alternatives for film funding and distribution,” Luke Trigwell from Universal Pictures Australasia said.
“It was clear from the very first script that Love Is Now had a unique and engaging story, making for both an enjoyable and memorable experience.”
The movie – filmed at locations including historic Tocal Homestead – follows the story of photographer Audrey and aspiring snapper Dean, and their growing passion for each other while travelling across the Australian landscape.
Leads Eamon Farren (Red Dog, Carlotta) and Clare Van Der Boom (Sisters of War, Red Hill) are joined by Dustin Clare (Spartacus, McLeod’s Daughters), Heather Mitchell (Muriel’s Wedding, The Great Gatsby) and Chris Haywood (Shine, Jindabyne).
“My favourite thing about Australian film is that we enjoy drama,” Schulz said.
Universal Pictures has secured the rights to the film worldwide, and an Australian Home Entertainment release has been planned for Valentine’s Day 2015.
