The super sprinter, one of the hottest properties in Australian greyhound racing, jumps from box four in the McGuigan Wines Stakes (450m).
Another win in the day’s eighth race would make it a perfect 10 from 10 for the chaser, who set a 400m track record of 24.79 at Maitland earlier this month.
Owner-trainer Melinda Finn said another track record could be on the cards for Winsome Prince, who won his ninth outing last Friday on his city debut at Wentworth Park.
“I cannot see why not,” she said.
“He is fighting fit and pulled up well (from Wentworth Park).
“He looks like he is feeling really good and if the track is fast, it’s a possibility.
“As long as he comes round safe that is the main thing (but) another record would be good.”
Winsome Prince’s record since debuting in August has made the sprinter the talk of the NSW greyhound racing circuit.
He is among a superb kennel for Finn and co-trainer and husband John featuring littermates Winsome Jacko and Winsome Mission.
Another kennel star, Anything Less, will get another run at Wentworth Park this Saturday.
This race is likely to be Winsome Prince’s final outing before an assault on the Group 1 $100,000-to-the-winner Silver Chief Classic (520m) at The Meadows next month.
“It would be super if he could get a record here, but we are just trying to bring him through easy,” western Sydney-based Finn said.
“I’ve got a spring in my step at the moment.
“It’s lovely going to the kennels every morning and seeing half-a-dozen good greyhounds there.
“It’s wonderful at the moment (but) we are trying to let their running do the talking.”
Maitland Greyhound Club sponsorship and promotions manager Fred Robertson said Ninja Turtle (race five, number eight) was his best bet of the day.
Racing at Maitland starts at 3.49pm today.
Meanwhile, Maitland-owned pair Keybow and Awesome Project go in heats one and five respectively of tonight’s Group 1 Sky Racing Brisbane Cup (520m) heats at Queensland’s Albion Park.
Keybow (box three) finished third in last Friday’s Melbourne Cup and looks a strong chance here.
