Staff are putting the finishing touches to the store and stocking the racks for the opening sale.
“It’s the end of an era for the old Maitland site in the mall, but the start of a new one which allows us to continue on as part of the community,” Best & Less regional manager Gordon Ashman said.
“The locals love us and we want to stay in this location.”
The store was on the corner of High and Bulwer streets in the old Heritage Mall, which is now under refurbishment as The Levee.
Kmart and Best & Less are now both in the Maitland Hunter Mall, which is owned by Federation Centres.
Centre manager Chris Muir said Federation Centres planned to start some impressive renovations next year.
“In February we’ve proposed to start stage two, which is an upgrade to the centre itself,” he said.
Improved floors and decorative timber highlights will lift the appearance of the centre.
Kmart will undergo a complete revamp later in the year.
“These works should make a massive improvement to the centre,” Mr Muir said.
Best & Less will open 8.30am and will mark the occasion with a one-day sale for customers.
