The 3000 homes planned for Anambah, whether it is imposed by the state government’s compliance requirement for the Lower Hunter Regional Strategy (according to Cr Philip Penfold’s letter to the Maitland Mercury of Friday, December 5) or the Maitland City Council rush to cover every square inch of land available with houses, does not change the fact that the existing and imminent planned infrastructure for this area is not adequate to satisfy the needs required by modern standards of living!

The way these house developments are being approved, could be almost compared with building a house from the roof down.
The only councillor who comes up with sensible and well-balanced ideas is Cr Henry Meskauskaus.
Unfortunately, not one of the other councillors seems to listen to what he has been saying because they are more concerned with pleasing the state government and the developers than what the general population really needs!
It’s no wonder that so many people are so frustrated and disillusioned with all levels of government that they don’t even care to vote or take part in any survey to express their opinion one way or the other!
It’s true that no matter who is in government they will never please everyone.
But I’m sure that we can get a lot closer than the current ones are!
