The abrupt closure of Quattro Formaggi Deli and Wine Bar in Mosman shocked lower north shore Italophiles. Now the Military Road venue has appointed a liquidator, Jason Porter, from Pitcher Partners. He says Kerwin Mathews, the owner of the Military Road venue, had tried to find a buyer but the business wasn't profitable, so he handed the keys back to the landlord. A creditors' meeting has been called for this Friday (19/2).

Porter estimates creditors are owed around $400,000. The venue's mix of tightly packed tables and high stools, with a massive selection of cured meats, pasta dishes and a wine bar thrown in, garnered some good reviews. Pino Iacobbe opened the Mosman venue in 2010, expanding to include a wine bar two years later. Lacobbe sold the business in November 2012.
Two other businesses using the Quattro Formaggi name – in Brookvale and Chatswood – are not associated with the Mosman outlet and remain open.
