Excitement and relief were among them – but pure joy was chief.
“I’m just over the moon with my result,” she said.
Celina, 18, received an ATAR of 98.35 – and while she was delighted it was certainly not a result she had expected.
“I always aimed to get a high 90s ATAR, but I definitely wasn’t thinking I’d get this high,” she said.
Celina scored the highest ATAR at Maitland Grossmann High School and celebrated with her cohorts at a special brunch yesterday morning.
The Ashtonfield resident achieved outstanding results across advanced English, extension one and two maths, biology and chemistry.
It is her love of science that Celina wants to pursue next year.
“I definitely want to do something science-oriented,” she said. “I’m thinking about a double science and commerce degree, but I’ll wait and see.”
At 9am, 55,482 HSC students received their ATAR with nearly one-third receiving a mark of 80 or more after having learnt their HSC results on Tuesday.
The ATAR determines a student’s entrance to a particular university course with the median ATAR for all students this year at 68.95, down from 69.2 last year.
