I have just read the document entitled Your Guide to the Newcastle Transport Changes.

On page four it states: “Buses from Newcastle will leave around 25 minutes before connecting trains are due to depart Hamilton.”
The trains from Newcastle currently take only seven minutes to Hamilton.
That means that a train journey from Newcastle to anywhere beyond Hamilton will take 18 minutes longer.
I have kept a flyer from Robyn Parker dated February 2013.
In the flyer Mrs Parker says: “Please be assured that I understand that commuters outside Newcastle deserve and rely on an efficient transport service to and from the City of Newcastle.”
Is adding 18 minutes to the journey and a change from one mode of transport to another what Mrs Parker calls efficient?
In the same flyer of February 2013 Mrs Parker states: “I will continue to fight to ensure that the people of Maitland receive an efficient and effective transport system which will provide the level of service its commuters deserve.”
Well it is very likely that Mrs Parker did continue to fight for her constituents in the Liberal party room but obviously she lost.
That’s why the Liberal Party should lose the seat of Maitland in the March election.
