Wonderful to recently read and note the whole page (MM, January 16, p9) highlighting the arrival of “Displaced people” (post WWII) to our far-flung Australian shores.
We may certainly say: “We have a global village”. In the past and present great influx of adults and children, and those born later, having found peace away from the war-torn European and other lands.
Reflecting upon our nation’s great progress within the last 100 years must generate much gratitude to those determined, multi-lingual survivors, who have given so much.
Our nation’s transformation, in all respects, brings to mind wonderful local and global experiences, and those came into being on account of the courageous people who traversed thousands of miles to our sunny shores.
May we always recall the reasons for displaced people, refugees (and in-like references) while depicting the inhumanity within our global human family.
May we rally with a conscience to eliminate the motivational reasons causing physical and mental harm, and material destruction.
