Participants are being warned to prepare for the fright of their lives as they delve into the mystery of Maitland Gaol’s past and spend an entire night in a cold, dark cell of the notorious building.
“Don’t expect prestigious accommodation,” Maitland Gaol co-ordinator Gordon Sauber said.
“Maitland Gaol is a decommissioned maximum security prison. You can expect cells that are small, dusty and won’t fit a queen size bed.
“You may get some sleep, but the old gaol is noisy, especially with so many prisoners filling the cells for one night.”
Experienced and informative guides will take people through the gaol compound by torchlight on March 13 and reveal the inside story of the life and times of the gaol.
And if that’s not enough to send chills down your spine, a screening of Insidious: Chapter 2 will be shown before the heavy gates are slammed shut until daylight.
For those who make it through the night, a hot breakfast will be served before the inmates are released into the outside world.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their prison greens or their best fright night outfit.
The best dressed female and male will be awarded a small prize on the night.
