The list was compiled on the Fox Sports Australia website by long-time sports journalist Richard Hinds and has sparked much debate, but the two-time Maitland Sportsperson of the Year was once again recognised for her efforts on the international stage.
Last year Australia’s youngest Paralympic medallist starred at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with gold and a world record in the same magic moment before going on to collect seven pieces of silverware at the Para Pan Pacific Championships in the US.
“The [then] 15 year-old broke the world record in winning the 100m S8 freestyle at the Commonwealth Games,” Hinds said.
“Won three gold (100 metres butterfly, 50 metres freestyle, 100 metres backstroke) and four silver medals at the Para Pac championships. “
“A relay gold medallist at the London Olympics when just 13.
“Youngster marked highly on a series of outstanding results across her two major competitions.”
Elliott, also an OAM recipient in 2014, was ranked at No. 98 in front of Mundine (99) and Tomic (100).
Michael Clarke, Adam Scott, Sally Pearson, Daniel Riccardo and Tim Cahill made up the top five while Greg Inglis (six), Stephanie Gilmore (10), Gary Ablett (11), Isreal Folau (13), Patrick Mills (17) and Laura Geitz (33) also featured.
