Study Hunter, launched last Friday night, will be an online multi-lingual campaign in partnership with the state government’s StudyNSW which provides information to prospective students considering Australia as a study destination.
The website will showcase ambassadors and alumni from the Hunter’s educational facilities, list employment and investment opportunities and link students with local business and social networks.
Hunter TAFE CEO Phil Cox said his institution is committed to establishing the Hunter as an international student destination of choice, which will mark the area as a desirable, diverse and vibrant community for young professionals.
“We look forward to working with our Study Hunter partners and the Hunter community to create a safe and supportive study environment for international students,” Mr Cox said.
RDA Hunter CEO Todd Williams said Maitland, with its proximity to numerous campuses, the vineyards, the expressway and Newcastle’s beaches, is poised to take particular advantage of the influx of international students.
“There’s plenty of space, there’re newer suburbs being developed around Aberglasslyn and Ashtonfield that would be really be well suited due to their access to transport, shopping and community amenities,” Mr Williams said.
“A big goal of this program is talent retention among young people. We want people to come, stay, work and live in The Hunter – I want it to be known as a trendy place to live, and I think it can be.”
