The meeting, at Newcastle City Hall, will take place from 7pm.
A new campaign to save the rail line, Keep the Hunter on Track, will also be launched at the meeting.
“This is an important opportunity for the community to hear about the current plans, and also for our representatives to hear about the impacts their plans are having on the region,” spokesman for the group David Blyth said.
“The people of the Hunter deserve a modern public transport system. The latest changes have resulted in increased daily commute times and frustrating interchanges – it feels as though the Hunter has been set back decades.”
Premier Mike Baird, Minister for the Hunter Gladys Berejiklian, Planning Minister Pru Goward and the local candidates for the upcoming state election and ward three council elections have all been invited to attend the event.
