Australian junior champion Lorcan Redmond went under 53 minutes to claim round seven of the Maitland Triathlon Club season on Sunday.

Last year’s Brendan Sexton Trophy recipient clocked a time of 52 minutes and 35 seconds (52:35) in taking out the monthly race.
Redmond was first out of the water after the 450 metre swim having recorded a split time of six minutes and 50 seconds.
The winner of the 2014 Australian All Schools 13- to 14-years title, then completed the 18-kilometre ride in 32 minutes and three seconds.
He then stormed home in a time of 13 minutes and 42 seconds for the 4km run.
Next best on the day was last season’s 35- to 44-years club champion Kevin Picton (54:39).
First female home was Courtney Wevers (1:02:10).
Chloe Hollingsworth won the intermediate race, Ollie Boucher reigned supreme in the junior section and Rory Hodgson proved too good once in the sub-juniors.
In the long course race last month, Michael Southcombe was successful in a time of one hour, 28 minutes and 54 seconds (1:28:54).
Southcombe finished ahead of Ryan Gregory (1:30:51) and Paul Widseth (1:32:08) after a 650m swim, 30km ride and 6km run.
Maddy Herbert was the first female home on February 8 in a time of 1:44:01.
The club’s next race will be held on March 22 before wrapping up the 2014-2015 season on April 26.
The Triathlon NSW club championships will be held in Forster on May 16.
