Last year the station displayed the words: “Fires Don’t Discriminate, Neither Do We: Happy Mardi Gras” and the community reaction was phenomenal.
People took to social media to show their support, while others wrote letters of gratitude for the sentiment behind the sign.
This year’s message reads, “FRNSW Celebrating 10th year at Mardi Gras” and it also features several Rainbow Flags.
“We put it up last week,” Maitland Fire and Rescue’s Mark Goffett said.
“Fire and Rescue NSW have been involved with the Mardi Gras for a long time, we even have a float in the parade.”
It is also a bit of personal pride for Mr Goffett whose two daughters are part of the lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender community.
