My treatment is over!
Thanks to everyone for all your kind words and support over the past few months.
I have been lucky enough to be able to continue to play tennis here at Raworth throughout, albeit to a slightly different level and a slightly slower pace than I would like, but play I did.
Now the plan is to get back to fitness and start dipping my toes back in the local competitions – looking forward to partnering my dear friends Carole Underwood and Leisa Melmeth in the not too distant future.
I will take this opportunity to again wish Wilma Reibel all the very best as she wages her own battle against cancer.
I am pleased to report that on a recent visit to see her, her excellent sense of humour and sarcasm were still aimed fair and square at me and I loved it.
I am sure Wilma will be back on the court before we know it – as she said if I can get through it then she certainly can.
The threat of rain and thunder put paid to the start of my Wednesday Night Comp last week but we are all set to go this week.
With three sets of high quality singles and doubles for all players to enjoy this autumn comp looks set to be as successful as the previous ones.
Any players interested in filling in or playing in this comp should contact me on 4933 3750.
How fabulous was it to see Roger Federer take the ATP Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship title?
He defeated world number one Novak Djokovic in straight sets to win the title for the seventh time.
Federer hit 12 aces in the match taking his tally to 9007 for his career – one of only four players since 1991 to hit 9000.
More Federer facts?
In 2007 he went 105 points without making an unforced error.
That was against big hitting John Isner.
He is the first living Swiss person to feature on a Swiss stamp.
The image was taken in 2007 with Federer holding the Wimbledon Trophy.
