This year marks the important community milestone of the University of Newcastle’s opening in 1965.
The university was born of a long and at times fiery campaign and all staff then and now are invited to attend a special event to launch celebrations on Friday.
Opening with 1700 students, the university now caters to more than 40,000 undergraduate and post graduate students learning and researching across campuses at Callaghan, the Central Coast, Port Macquarie, Sydney and Singapore.
A walk down memory lane, laughs and eats will launch the anniversary celebrations in the Great Hall, Callaghan Campus, Newcastle at noon.
