It’s understandable that people earning a living, either directly or indirectly, off the coal industry, would be upset about the prospect of losing a highly paid job, if the coal industry was to be shut down.

This is what was expressed by one of the blogs in the Mercury on March 17.
Not sure if the blogger’s concern is genuinely for the loss of jobs or was he-she trying to win votes for the Liberals in the upcoming state elections?
The fact remains that neither the Labor Party or the Greens will shut the coal industry over night, should they win government.
Most certainly, they will reduce further development of the coal industry while promoting investment in clean energy as any responsible government should be doing.
We can’t continue to turn a blind eye to what the burning of solid fuel is doing to the environment and our health.
