All the tortoise-shell cat needs is a good home.
Dora came to the shelter as a stray and had her collar hooked over one of her front legs.
The collar had been that way so long it was embedded in her skin.
One of the vets surgically removed the collar and foster carers nursed her back to health over three months.
Dora can be a little shy and, while she doesn’t like to be picked up, she does enjoy pats and playtime.
With a little patience she’s expected to settle into her new home well.
Experience with cats is not essential, but would be beneficial.
Dora would either suit a family with older, calm children, or someone after some companionship to fill an empty home.
When the house is quiet Dora will happily find a quiet spot to curl up and sleep.
Dora is ready for adoption now for $100, which includes microchip and vaccination.
For more information or to meet Dora visit the RSPCA Hunter Animal Shelter at Burlington Close, Rutherford.
The shelter is open Wednesday to Monday (closed Tuesdays) from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
