The 20-year-old, who joined the Jets in 2012, has extended his contract until the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
The bottom-placed Jets have had a dismal campaign this year as they endure massive upheaval with the cash-strapped franchise axing half a dozen players and several members of their coaching staff.
But Cooper is looking at the big picture and only sees blue skies ahead.
“A lot of people have been writing off the Jets. I think that’s the wrong way to look at it,” he said.
“There’s so much improvement and potential here, and I want to be a big part of it.”
