More than 65 guests turned out for a 65th anniversary celebration and cake-cutting ceremony at the George Street CWA hall yesterday.
“CWA core values are as relevant today as they were when the organisation started,” secretary Sharyn Buck said.
“It was initially started to help women in rural areas, but today it helps all women and fights for different causes.”
East Maitland CWA branch supplies Maitland Hospital with emergency toiletry bags and
raises funds for a number of national and international projects.
“Our big project at the moment is to upgrade our hall with access and a bathroom for people with disabilities to attend our craft and friendship days.”
East Maitland CWA branch has more than 30 members and always welcomes newcomers.
