The Step Back Into King St Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, April 18, to mark World Heritage Day.
King Street was the original main street and CBD of Raymond Terrace and will be transformed into a street from yesteryear for the event, with people encouraged to dress up for the occasion.
The street features many historic buildings, including some dating back to the early 1800s and was the filming location of the Australian movie Tomorrow When the War Began in 2010.
The festival will include a dress-up photo booth, quoits, spinning and weaving demonstrations, live acoustic music, a knucklebones contest, bamboo pole fishing, donkeys and market stalls.
There will be a soap box for people to share their King Street stories and at 1pm attention will turn to the Marriage Tree, where a local couple will tie the knot.
Children will enjoy the puppet theatre, best hat or bonnet parade, and hop scotch.
The event will culminate at 2pm with traditional Celtic fiddlers’ music.
The festival is free and will start at 10am and finish at 3pm.
