“I’ll be calling at charities in Taree, Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Brisbane, giving them food supplies to deliver to their communities,” Mr West said.
“We work with charities all over the state and the country.
“Together we can do great things that an individual or single organisation could not do.
“If we all work together, we can help more people.”
Mr West said the value of food was estimated at $25,000.
“We will deliver this to Christian Outreach at Taree, the Riverside Chapel at Grafton and various other charities.
“I hate the term ‘working poor,’ but we come across so many families struggling to feed themselves – families who are not unemployed, but who don’t earn enough to survive,” Mr West said.
“I will be taking pallets of frozen pies, chips and wedges for distribution to the charities.
“I have been planning this operation for the past six months, so know exactly which organisations need the deliveries.
“In the Thornton and Maitland areas which we serve, we have around 3000 families in need and throughout the Hunter there could be around 10,000 struggling to get through.”
Mr West also appealed for donations of hay, which he plans to deliver to drought-stricken farmers in the next few weeks.
