You’ve almost certainly heard the drums, riff and cowbell from their last number We Are The Same bombard you every few
minutes on Youtube through the Cancer Council’s Pretty Shady advertising campaign.
The six-piece’s latest release is a little darker, harder and garage flavoured but retains the psychedelic swirl that keeps them instantly recognisable.
It should come as no surprise considering it was produced by Lindsay Gravina – known for his work with Violent Soho, The Living End and Magic Dirt.
Lurch & Chief formed in Melbourne as a creative outlet for a group of close friends in late 2012. Hayden and Lilibeth share lead vocals in the group, two singers from completely opposite ends of the sonic spectrum, balancing to form a cohesive sound.
The Breathe EP tour will come to Newcastle’s Small Ballroom on May 27.
Tickets will be on sale from today through lurchandchief.com
