Chairman Darach Saunders said he believed the numbers were much higher.
“It varies greatly. About a week ago we had 50 to 60 trucks go through by 7am, but they sometimes drop back to half a dozen in the same time,” Mr Saunders said.
“We’ve asked if they [Daracon] can provide us with a list of jobs or a figure that shows they’re limiting their movements, but they won’t provide anything.”
Daracon refused to comment on the validity of the claims because of an ongoing legal case with Dungog Shire Council.
An application for the company to increase operations from 300,000 tonnes each year to 1.5 million tonnes is being considered by the NSW Department of Planning.
The Brandy Hill Quarry, operated by Hansons, has lodged a similar application.
Mr Saunders said these expansions would drive the number of truck movements to unprecedented levels.
“We’re talking 1000 truck movements per day through areas like Bolwarra and Lorn,” he said.
“Think about what horrendous impact that could have out the front of houses, schools and cafes.
“Not to mention what it would do to the roads.”
Dungog council has opposed the Martins Creek Quarry expansions plans.
A Daracon spokeswoman said the company had been blind-sided by the allegations, which came the morning after their monthly community consultation.
“We are surprised [Mr Saunders] didn’t raise this issue at the Martins Creek Quarry Community Consultative Committee meeting he attended with Daracon [on Wednesday],” she said.
