A section of railway track at Oakhampton has been left unsupported after wild weather destroyed ballast under the line.

Flash flooding caused by torrential rain washed away a section of ballast – the gravel mound that supports the train line – and left about five metres of track unsupported yesterday.
The section of track is part of the Hunter Line, which is used to transport commuters between Newcastle and Scone.
The Hunter Line was one of several heavy rail lines closed yesterday amid torrential rain and gale force winds that swept eastern parts of the state.
NSW Train Link, the agency responsible for the line, was unable to be reached for comment yesterday afternoon.
It is not yet known how the damage will affect the time it takes for trains on the Hunter Line to become operational again.
