The 17-year-old was one of two drivers killed in the accident on the New England Highway at Rixs Creek, north west of Singleton.
Also killed in the smash, in another vehicle, was band front man Stu McKenzie from Good Corn Liquor.
Two injured passengers in one of the vehicles were airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Bryan was a highly regarded footballer who made his first grade debut last Saturday against Maitland in the Black Diamond AFL competition.
He was a member of the clubs premiership winning under 17s team last season and backed up to play a number of games for the club's second division side.
Police said the accident happened about 3.20pm on Wednesday.
Initial inquiries led police to believe the vehicles - one travelling south and one north - collided head-on.
Both drivers died at the scene.
Bryan's two elder brothers Josh and Nathan also play for the Singleton Roosters, while his parents Peter and Kay have had a long involvement with the club.
The Black Diamond AFL board and its members have passed on their deepest sympathies to the Childs family.
