Business owners in Dungog, Paterson and surrounds may be eligible for Telstra’s relief package.
Telstra customers whose businesses have been severely affected by the disaster can have their fixed line cancelled and have their phone number reserved for up to 12 months for free, from the date of the natural disaster.
They can also have a free call diversion service set up from a fixed phone line to another Australian fixed or mobile service, regardless of the carrier for a maximum of six months from the date of the natural disaster.
Customers who use the free call diversion service to divert their affected line to a Telstra mobile service will be able to make local and STD calls from that line at fixed line rates.
If required, business owners could be eligible for a one-off $500 credit to help cover the costs of connecting a temporary Telstra fixed phone service at another location, reconnect a fixed phone service at a flood affected premises and reserve phone numbers.
Telstra Country Wide Hunter and Central Coast general manager Christopher Cusack said there had been little damage to key Telstra infrastructure so far but technicians would continue to work to fully recover any communications services that had been affected by the floods.
“We understand this is a terrible time for anyone who has been affected by these floods and hopefully this package will help people as they work through this crisis,” he said.
