Dean Phillip John Perry, 32, of Paterson Road, Bolwarra Heights, was arrested on Sunday when he tried to flee the scene of a domestic incident at Ashtonfield.
Perry climbed into the front seat of the police vehicle and crashed into two parked cars as officers questioned his partner.
He was excused from court on Monday when his solicitor lodged an application for a psychiatric assessment.
Perry made no application for bail yesterday and will undergo a psychiatric assessment before he returns to court via video link on June 15.
