Sections of the sand-based track at Maitland Showground were completely washed away and 16 power boxes lined along the inside rail were inundated when heavy rain and strong winds lashed the Hunter on April 21.
This prompted the initial cancellation of the meeting two days later and last week’s programs for Wednesday and Thursday.
Officials are still waiting for the track to be cleared and levelled before replacement sand is delivered.
Electricians are checking the power boxes.
This has seen Thursday’s card called off, along with next week’s racing on May 13 and 14.
Club sponsorship and promotions manager Fred Robertson said May 20 looked the most likely return date at this stage, pending track work and further inclement weather.
Robertson said Maitland could be given five back-to-back Wednesday-Thursday meetings by Greyhounds Racing NSW when racing returns.
