The 29-year-old will bring up the double century milestone this Sunday when the second-placed Bears host Hamilton Olympic at Rockwell Automation Park in round seven of the Northern NSW Football National Premier League.
It has been 12 seasons in the making after debuting at Weston aged 18 and the third-generation Turnbull will now join his late uncle, John Thomas Turnbull, in the elite group.
“It makes it very special to have that family history at the club,” Turnbull said.
“I didn’t really know much about it when I started but the longer I’ve been here the more I’ve learnt and the name is now synonymous with Weston.”
Turnbull has played in three grand finals (2004, 2010, 2014) and been part of two minor premierships (2004, 2010) during his time at the Bears as well as being made an honorary member last year.
The midfielder said he feels as fit as ever and praised the good vibe in Bears camp, which has been aided by the return of his first top grade coach Trevor Morris.
“I’ve been very lucky here at Weston over the years,” Turnbull said.
“But right now I’m as fit as I’ve ever been and there is a different feel about the place – and in no small part is that down to Trev.”
Turnbull will sit alongside his uncle in the Bears’ 200 club as well as teammate Nathan Morris and former players Tom Snedden and Ray Johnson.
Kick-off is 2.30pm.
