The club recently relocated to McKeachies Run sportsground and hopes to raise money to
purchase a new fridge and public address system among other items.
Home grown comedian Andy Tipping is a proud footy dad to Rheid Tipping, who plays for the under 8s.
“I asked the [West Maitland] committee if they wanted to do something,” Tipping said.
“They said yes so I contacted JB [John Buck] to organise it.”
Tipping is billed as one of the comedians along with Matt Reddy, Mitch Garling, Brad Austin, Derrick Vale and Brock Henry.
Danny Giles of Sydney Comedy Festival revere will MC a full roster that’s topped by Luke Heggie who won Raw Comedy 2010.
Buck, the promoter of Maitland Free Comedy, has recently helped organise a string of fundraisers and enlisted Tipping for the Opportunities for Owen session.
Owen Barry is now in Los Angeles for further physio on his cerebral palsy.
“I enjoy [stand-up comedy] it certainly beats mowing the lawn,” Tipping said.
There will be auctions and raffles on the night which starts 8pm.
Among the items up for grabs is a signed and framed Newcastle Knights jersey from the Anzac round.
Tickets to this adults only show are $20 and are available from Andy Tipping on 0405 927 357 or Cassandra Tipping on 0423 883 224.
