The group 3 open class over 2300 metres will be the third race back for the five-year-old bay colt since running seventh for Formosa on Australasia’s richest harness racing day in March.
Both of Ultimate Art’s runs have been over the same distance at Menangle, finishing fourth in the group 3 Joe and Michael Isley on May 16 and tenth in the listed classic Bulli Cup.
Ultimate Art (race seven, number 10), with 19 wins and 12 placings from 47 career starts, will be up against Mark Purdon’s Smolda and the McCarthy’s For A Reason.
Formosa also has Milias Ideal (race six, number three) in the race prior, the NSW Breeders Challenge semi-final for two-year-old fillies, and will drive Shadow Runner (race eight, number one) in the NSW Breeders semi-final for two-year-old geldings and colts.
First race jumps at 5.17pm.
Newcastle Harness racing Club will host meetings on Thursday from 2.58pm and Friday from 5.09pm.
