Maitland came home with two major crowns from last year’s Netball NSW event but was unable to replicate that form in higher divisions in 2015.
“We didn’t win any titles this time but the girls just gave everything,” Fulford said.
“We were up against some pretty good competition and some associations who have 250 girls trial for teams, whereas we can be lucky to have 12.
“But the girls never gave up, we had no major injuries and it was perfect weather.”
Three of Maitland’s four sides were playing division two at Eastwood Ryde with the under 12s, under 14s and under 15s all matching their age group numbers in overall standings.
The under 13s had been promoted to championship division at Baulkham Hills following an under-12 division two crown last year and they didn’t win a game.
There were 5000 matches played at the state carnival across four venues between Saturday and Monday with 3500 players representing 294 teams from 83 associations.
