Tritton has targeted the Queensland Winter Carnival and the four-year-old bay gelding will contest the $100,000 group 1 Sunshine Sprint in search of a fourth win since March 14.
Yayas Hotspot has experienced success at Newcastle, Penrith and Dubbo in recent months and has also placed twice in group races this year – second in a group 2 at Penrith in April and third in a group three at Melton in February.
The drive over the mile will be taken by Kelli Dawson with Tritton’s No.1 choice Lauren Panella still sidelined following a nasty race fall at Menangle last month.
Yayas Hotspot, third at Albion Park on Monday first up from a month-long spell, will launch wide on the front row from barrier five.
New Zealand trainer-driver Natalie Rasmussen has Smolda one inside Tritton’s charge in lane four.
In the earlier group one of the night, a $100,000 stakes contest over the mile, Tritton has a three-year-old pair off the second row.
Controversial and Miss Riviera Belle will jump from barriers nine and 11 respectively with Pete McMullen getting the latter drive.
Tritton has a further seven horses in action north of the state border on Saturday night with Ohoka Utah, Final Count and Liberalitus all contesting the same 2138m series final.
The reigning NSW Metropolitan and five-time Newcastle premiership winner also has Pas Ultimate Delight and Jivin Cullen in the fourth, Glenlochar in the eighth and Lurah in the ninth.
Racing from 5.09pm.
Closer to home at Newcastle Harness Racing Club has an eight-race meeting on Saturday night with Maitland drivers Daniel Morgan and Laura Spencer both returning from last week’s NSW Rising Stars series.
First event at 5pm.
