Applications for grants are now open as part of the Family and Community Services Youth Scholarship Program.
The program helps students, who are facing hardship, complete their studies by covering the costs of private tuition, information technology equipment, text books and study guides.
Students across NSW who are living in social housing or who are on the social housing register are eligible to apply.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter and Central Coast Scot MacDonald (pictured) said the grants could help many Hunter students.
“Previous scholarship winners have gone on to have success at university, with many now accomplished professionals – something that may have not been possible without the assistance this scholarship provides,” he said.
There will be 266 grants available across the state worth $1500 each for students completing the Higher School Certificate or equivalent studies.
Applications close at 5pm on July 31.
