Labor supporters are being asked for a little fiscal stimulation to start up a new media site, Labor Herald. The digital-only venture, designed to tell the stories of Australian Labor, will feature articles from politicians, business leaders and others.

All that's needed to get the venture up and running is $30,000. It is hoped an online campaign will raise a little over $23,000 in the next 26 days.

Bill Shorten and Wayne Swan are backing the campaign and have tweeted their support.

For $5000, you can get your hands on a limited edition copy of True Believer: The Story of the Federal Parliamentary Party signed by former PMs Bob Hawke, Paul Keating and Gough Whitlam.

Not into books? There's art, too. For $2500 you can be the proud owner of a big red metal H, perfect for restarting any conversation after the awkward silence that follows any mention of the ABC's The Killing Season.

Anyone who wants a fridge magnet, and is inclined to actually pay for one, can get a handy "Abbott Free Zone" magnet for the low, low price of $50.

The site will come with a free weekly email.

So, if the debt and deficit doldrums haven't affected your cash reserves, Labor wants to sell you a  bargain.
