Sport is often defined by classic moments and young Swans star Lewis Jetta’s celebration of a goal with an Aboriginal tribal dance in support of his teammate Adam Goodes is likely to become one of the AFL’s iconic images.
It brought the on-going blight of continued booing of Goodes to the forefront of popular and social media.
The web brought out the best and worst of people on the issue and some of the rants and excuses for this deplorable behaviour have frankly been offensive.
The AFL’s belated position that if it continues it can only be seen as racist and the call from players for it to end, hopefully, will stop this personal assault on a remarkable man.
Congratulations to James Orchard for creating a page for people to show their support of Goodes.
Heeney lends support
Maitland’s own young Sydney Swan, Isaac Heeney, has quickly got back to his best and earned a nomination for mark of the year in the Swan’s loss to West Coast.
Star treatment for Price
Aberglasslyn endurance motorcycle king Toby Price has been getting the star treatment since signing with KTM Red Bull and given his incredible courage in overcoming a spinal injury and sheer hard work in reaching the top he deserves it.
And when you’re in the Red Bull stable the perks can be pretty impressive.
Ecstasy is perhaps the best way to describe Price’s reaction after a hot lap with Aussie V8 legend Craig Lowndes.
For once in his life Lowndes was probably confronted with a bigger smile than his own.
Casualties
Who knows what lays in store for the mighty Newcastle Knights with Rick Stone probably only the first casualty of a disappointing season.
Sometimes the only thing for fans to do is stick tight and in moments of despair push the play button on magic moments of the past.
Bathroom humour
Bathroom humour is probably a last resort but we couldn’t help being drawn to this item on our regular top 10 searches – SportsCentre Top 10- Bathroom Moments in Sports!
A nice little reminder to all our sportspeople to ensure they take care of everything before they head out to play.
