New home owners in the Cessnock Local Government Area can claim up to eight free plants for their garden from the council.
The offer is open to people who have bought or built a new home in the Cessnock council area in the past 12 months.
Council’s recreation services manager Nicole Benson said the initiative had been running successfully for more than 15 years.
“There are a range of trees and shrubs available from ground covers like creeping boobalia through to shrubs including murraya, bottlebrush and grevillea,” Ms Benson said.
“Trees and shrubs have positive environmental impacts, along with their natural visual appeal.”
Application forms for free trees and shrubs are available from the Cessnock Council administration building or online, at www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/community/sport/forms
Completed forms must be lodged by 5pm on August 14.
